This Southfield patient originally from Yugoslavia had severe dental issues that developed and worsened over a long period of time. Limited access to modern dentistry, being in a large family with limited finances and the current availability of funds contributed to the cause and also influenced the choice of treatments. Dr. Halmaghi was able to develop a treatment plan that addressed the major medical concerns, produce the cosmetic outcome the patient was seeking and most importantly, enable the patient to easily afford it. A partial denture was fabricated after impressions (molds) were taken. In this particular case, the patient's teeth were not removed while waiting for the partial denture to be created (many patients report undergoing extractions and waiting several days to weeks while waiting for dentures). Teeth whitening products and services were used as necessary to brighten the remaining upper teeth and lower teeth. The goal was to have matching coloration between the partial and the patient's original teeth. The fabrication and fitting for the partial was immensely successful as can be seen in the close up photo. The patient joked that he didn't recognize the person in the mirror when he was asked to evaluate the cosmetic outcome of the fitting and aesthetic balance of his "new smile". Fairly inexpensive, for some patients a partial denture works miracles. Remember, what we have learned about cosmetic dentistry we learned from denturists and old time dentists who perfected the art of dentures.
