As can be seen in the before photo, this young patient had severe dental issues due to what started out as benign cumulative neglect and the time old problem of financial difficulties. No dentists in her home town were willing to treat her.. due to the complexities she presented. She drove 3 hours so she could have access to our services. At the time she appeared for her first visit and evaluation, the patient had severe multiple infections (to the extent her face was beginning to swell) and bite-Occlusion deficits that were causing significant TMJ related pain. Periodontal disease was prevalent and cysts were beginning to appear on bone structures. With financing issues resolved, it was decided by the patient that the initial focus would be made on her upper jaw. The treatment plan she selected incorporated the use of precision custom made bridgework composed of precious metals and the use of Jeneric Pentron porcelain. Root canals were performed and all teeth were built up with titanium posts. With our on-site lab, the patient was able to select a particular combination of individual crowns and bridgework that produced the most dramatic cosmetic result she was looking for. Although the custom lab work was extensive, there were no prolonged waiting periods since our lab work is performed with routine immediacy. Our patient is now undergoing treatment for restoring and reconstructing her lower jaw. When completed, normal dental function will be assured, along with bite alignment issues that will prevent any TMJ related issues that could arise from the amount of reconstruction that has been performed.
