Try as he might... our patient here had extreme difficulty in smiling and showing any quantity of his upper teeth. The patient felt however, for a long time, that he really didn't enjoy smiling because of a severe diastema (gaps between teeth). The patient's goal was to address the "gap problem" and create a smile that was to his liking. His smile, to begin with, was never a broad one (grinning from ear to ear type) but rather somewhat narrow. His focus was primarily on just a few front teeth. As can be seen in this adjacent photo, the spacing issue affects mostly the four front teeth.
